Water Rates
As a Master Meter suburb, the City of Cleveland
Heights has always bought its water from the
City of Cleveland. In June of 2006 and again in
October, 2006 we received notification from the
City of Cleveland regarding an increase in the
cost of water beginning in 2007 and extending to
2010. The average annual increase from
Cleveland will be 5.00% per year with an overall
increase of 20% over the next four years.
The last time we increased the water rate was in
December of 2004; that also was in response to
a rate increase from Cleveland. It is unfortunate
during these difficult economic times that we have
to make another rate increase. However, in
order to absorb this new cost and comply with
EPA environmental regulations, and the Safe
Drinking Water Act, the City has no choice but to
adjust our rates to meet the increased charges
imposed by Cleveland.
Chapter 911 of the Codified Ordinances and
Chapter 743 of the Ohio Revised Code provides
for the City Manager to act as the Director of
Public Safety in the City of Cleveland Heights and
to enact the laws and regulations that are
necessary for the safe economical and efficient
management of our water and sewer systems,
including assessing and collecting water rates as
are necessary.
Therefore, the City’s water rate will now be
$46.73 per thousand and the Homestead rate will
be $34.82.
